The sound of the default coil split on my JS-600 was too thin for my taste so I decided to re-wire it into switchable parallel-mode.
While preparing this change I could not resist buying a freewayswitch to enable serial pickup-settings.
And… why not not go all in and add a switch to throw the neck pup out of phase?
Experiences:
- Jet guitars really did a great job: under the hood everything is perfectly done!
- Both bridge coils in parallel do not increase the volume much compared to a single coil, but I like the tone a lot more
- Freewayswitch offers a great product! The configuration options are very well documented. Buying this switch is a bit more expensive than an array of single switches but saves a lot of space and hassle
- Adding an out-of-phase switch (there is just enough space in the standard cavity after moving the capacitor) adds a LOT to the extended tone options by Freewayswitch. It makes most sense to flip the neck pickup’s polarity.
